The large Vanner came out of the bush, just as her white friend had done, but she stopped herself before she fell into the white filly. She tossed her white mane around her neck and looked at the mare. She pushed her ears back against her skull, showing she was angry at the female.
Ice turned and saw Kalypso coming toward her and a smile appeared on her face before she heard the mare speak. She looked at her and narrowed her eyes and laid her ears back on her skull. "The meaning is that you should stop." She said with less confidence now that the mare had stood back up. She had never been in a fight before and she was nervous.

"Why? The stallion ran into me, terrified of the mist. If he can't see the mist, he won't do it again. I'll be doing him a favor," Viper answered cruelly, and Thor tried not to snort a little at this.
She would be getting her personal vengence, that's what she would get.

Ice snorted at the mare and said, "Just leave the old stag alone and leave me as well." Her tone was cold and unpleasant. She tossed her mane up and lifted her head up, showing some power in her body.

Viper took a step back, but then struck out, trying to strike Ice. If the little mare wanted a fight, that's what she would get.
Theo listened, ears flicking slightly, and he held back a sigh at her words. 'Brave filly. Of course she is. She's Windspirit's,' he thought, and heard Viper moving, involuntarily letting out a squeal of warning.

Windspirit came out of the bush, just like the two fillies did. She jumped just as Viper struck out at Ice and Windspirit got the strike in her side. She winced as she came down and turned quickly, now facing Viper and standing like the two fillies ready to fight. Her side was bleeding, but the cut wasn't too deep. She snorted and said, "Viper, why are you doing this? Attacking your own kind?" Her tone was calm, but her eyes were not. She held anger and a little pain in her brown orbs.

Now Viper backed off, realizing she was out of her league. "I had just been trying to help the stallion not be so scared of the mist," Viper stated, backing off more.
She couldn't fight Windspirit. She couldn't come up with a story to cover her rump with that. Turning she galloped off, trying to escape the predicament she got herself in, and Theo slowly began to stand, realizing he couldn't see out of his eye.

Windspirit snorted and watched the larger mare take off. She stamped a hoof and then turned and looked at her daughter. "Why do you and Kal always get yourself into stuff?" She asked them, love in her voice.
Ice smiled and then walked over to her mother, her white pelt against her mother's gray one. She licked at the wound and Windspirit snorted, trying to get the filly away from her wound. "Leave it daughter, I'll tend to it later." Ice nodded at her mother's words and then turned to look at her father who was standing up.

Theo took his time, inspecting how much he got hurt, with much head turning. He couldn't tell if it was blood in his eye or if it was part of the injury itself. If it was, he would have to be careful, doubly so if other horses found out he couldn't see out of one eye.
Lowering his head, he looked at them with his good eyes, submissivly, and said, "I thank you Little Ladies, and My Lady."

Ice looked at her father, but no sorrow or anything was in her eyes. She just looked at him as she turned and walked away from the lake, and Kal followed her.
Windspirit walked over to him and touched her muzzle to his, knowing she could do what-ever she wanted to him now. "Please stay out of trouble." She whispered to him.

"I'll try Windspirit," Theo whispered in a moment of boldness, enjoying this short moment.
He knew it would be over, it would be over in a few moments, but he would enjoy it while he could. Besides, he had to get back to his colts. They could rarely stay out of trouble, and he slowly took a step away. He didn't want to go, he didn't want things to end this way.
Theo wanted to stay with Windspirit forever.

Windspirit pulled her maw off of Theo's and then took a few steps back away from him. She blinked and then said, "My time is coming again, if you wish to bred with me once more." Her tone was warm and pleased with the stallion. She knew she would be in heat once more in a few weeks, but she didn't know if she wanted another foal, unless it was with Theo.

Theo's ears pricked forward, and he answered softly, "If it was my choice, with no one else Windspirit."
It was true. He didn't care if he was being very bold, and if he was killed now. If Windspirit knew he loved her, that would be enough. He would have protected Ice even if she wasn't his, just because Ice was Windspirit's.

Windspirit smiled and then walked away from the stallion, leaving him alone near the lake. Her graceful movements carried her away from him and toward her area in the forest. Every horse had their own area, if you could call it that. As she walked she thought of when she would be in heat. "Hopefully soon." She whispered to herself.

Theo watched her leave, and then went back to being submissive. A young stallion found him, and slowly brought him with the other stallions, to take care of him. But he knew he would never see out of that eye again.
Moving slowly, he would remain, and a story would circulate he fell. Viper would never admit she kicked up. She didn't have a good back up story.
'Soon Windspirit,' Theo thought, swishing his tail a little.

Dry-ice and Kalypso stood under the shade of a large willow tree near the lake. It had been three weeks sense the fight had gone out with Viper and Windspirit and the two fillies hadn't seen Viper nor the stallion she had kicked. "I wonder if that stallion was killed." Kalypso wondered aloud. Ice looked over to her friend and laughed. "I have no idea. I haven't seen him sense I left and he was lying on the ground when I ran." She told her friend with humor in her voice.
Windspirit could hear the two fillies laughing at something. A smile came to her face as she listened to their laughter. The female shifted from one hoof to another as she stood under the cover of a tree. She had fallen into heat three days before and it was starting to pull stallions toward her. They would ask if she wished to bred with them, and she would always turn the stallion down. She was only looking, and waiting for one. Theo.
